The hosts were winners in the opening leg of their Champions League round-of-16 tie against Real Madrid. When the final whistle blew, Carlo Ancelotti said, "We were forced to suffer." In terms of defence, we did quite well. We weren't very aggressive and didn't execute well when we had the ball. We struggled to break down PSG's press in our own half, which is why we failed to produce any clear-cut chances. We couldn't move out of our half and couldn't get the ball out wide to Asensio and Vini Jr., and Karim had no opportunities to get on the ball. There isn't a complicated reason for it. That's exactly how everything went down. In possession, we didn't perform as well as we had hoped."
"Now we're back at our place for the second leg, and we're not worried about the away goals rule." That could be beneficial to us. Should we be hopeful? PSG certainly have a slight lead, which I hope does not prove to be sufficient in the game again at the Bernabéu. We'll go out there with 11 players and 50,000 people inside the Bernabéu, so I'm optimistic. That's why I'm upbeat."
